Elliott Foundation and Integracion Juvenil
Dear Friends & Benefactors:
The Elliott Foundation and Integracion Juvenil keep a mutually productive relationship based on a
common purpose: the education of children in Puerto Plata.
For 32 years now, Integracion Juvenil has been dedicated to educate children from the poorest
neighborhoods, in order to prepare them for a life with dignity through learning of trades.
Integracion Juvenil needs more adequate premises to expand on their mission. A soon to start
project is aimed at rescuing street children from their dangerous environment. It means to bring up
their educational level until they are capable of re-joining the formal school system. To that effect,
Integracion Juvenil purchased an old Victorian building in the historical centre of Puerto Plata. This
property must be totally renovated, keeping its original style in accord with government regulations in
place, while providing an appropriate set-up for its intended use.
The Budget to complete the work totals US$ 42,143. The Dominican Government has committed
already $ 11,200. World Emergency Relief (WER) donated $ 12,000. The architect in charge of design
and execution has donated his professional fees for $ 3714 and private donations so far added
another $ 1,286. This is simple math: another $ 13,943 is needed to complete the job. Please note
that construction is underway and its suspension for lack of funds would affect both the budget itself
and delay the start of the project.
