Elliott commits to build Puerto Plata's first children's hospital ward

Elliott Foundation has committed to raise nearly one half of a $220,000 effort to equip Puerto
Plata's public hospital, servicing a population of  280,000, with what will be the region's first and
only children's ward. The foundation has partnered with a local charity  called Voluntariado Jesus con
los Niņos to provide this badly needed facility.

In addition to the children's ward, plans include moving the women's ward to an adjacent wing so that
the mothers can be closer to their babies.  A separate operating room for maternity and children is part
of the project as well.  This initiative requires raising sufficient funds to provide an antiseptic room,
dormitories for doctors and visiting specialists, new washrooms, a new floor, sealing the roof, new
windows and doors, complete rewiring, air conditioning and a long list of medical equipment.

The Elliott Foundation’s initial raise for the children’s ward is $100,000. We urge you to get involved in
the “Wall of Change” program, in which donors' names will be permanently displayed in the hospital's
main lobby, under their respective categories.
