10.000 pairs of crocs to needy children
The makers of trendy Crocs footwear donated thousands of recycled shoes through the Elliott foundation
while attending the Dominican International Film Festival held last November at Sun Village Resort & Spa.
The effort was coordinated by Soles United, a charitable organization representing the shoe
manufacturer.
Soles United uses scrap material as well as recycled Crocs to create new footwear products for people in
need. Crocs also sponsored the AVP Pro Beach Volleyball Tour.
The donation come in the wake of Tropical Storm Noel that caused flooding in many poor neighborhoods
in Puerto Plata. The film festival is hosted by the Elliott Foundation, which partnered with Crocs, the Soles
United program and JetBlue airline to help distribute the shoes to the neediest communities in the
Dominican Republic.
Crocs brand shoes have gained popularity for their innovative closed-cell resin material that produces
soft, comfortable, lightweight, superior-gripping, non-marking and odor-resistant shoes.
